On the 8th September, we will start the discovery of the Magic Mountains! We will get closer to the Nature, to the People and to the local culture! We will contact with the reality of those who live in isolated villages in the middle of the mountains, and with the daily life of farmers, local producers, tourist promoters, artisans, environmentalists, geologists, biologists, mayors, nature photographers, forest managers, monitors and wildlife protectors. Also, culinary confreres, theater actors and other local actors.

The landscapes, rivers, valleys, mountains, waterfalls, biodiversity, geosites and built heritage will always be present, as well as the sharing of ideas and experiences between all, scientific knowledge, popular wisdom, tasting of good flavours of local gastronomy and adventure.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT FIELD TRIPS

Time and place of departure for the visits: 08:00 – Parking of Termas of S. Pedro do Sul (in front of Grande Hotel Lisboa);
Time and place of arrival of the visits: 18:00 – Aldeia de Trebilhadouro, Vale de Cambra;
Number of visits: 16 (initially planned, adjustments may be required depending on the number of interested);
Average number of participants per visit: 25 (number initially planned, adjustments may be necessary depending on the number of interested);
Level of difficulty/ physical requirement: in the detail of each visit will be indicated the respective level of difficulty, which can be classified as low, medium or high:

  • Low: when no special physical or technical preparation is required, and the visit involves only small walking routes;
  • Medium: when the visit requires a moderate level of physical or technical preparation, slightly longer hikes and/ or other outdoor activities;
  • High: when the visit requires a good physical and/ or technical preparation, involving long walks and/ or activities such as mountain biking, canoeing, climbing, stand up paddle, water walking, rappel, slide or other.

Programme: the detailed programme of each visit will be available closer to the date of the Conference;
Location: the visits are spread by the seven municipalities of the Magic Mountains: Arouca, Castelo de Paiva, Castro Daire, Cinfães, S. Pedro do Sul, Sever do Vouga and Vale de Cambra;
Material required: comfortable footwear, suitable for walking; light clothing; waterproof (in case of rain); sunscreen, hat or cap (in case of sun and heat). In case of activities in the water, it is advisable to use a towel as well as shorts or bathing suit, under the equipment that will be made available by the monitors;

Note: Visits and activities will take place regardless of the weather conditions.
