Voluntary agreements - a pool of experience in Natura 2000 site management
Most of EUROPARC's
370 member organisations and parks in 38 European countries are already
working with local stakeholders in both management planning and other fields
vital for the effective development of protected areas. Those EUROPARC
members who can provide a good practice example or case study on Natura
2000 are kindly requested to send details to the EUROPARC Headquarters
in Grafenau so that it can be promoted within the project.
A number of examples of good practice relating to Natura 2000 site
management have already been submitted for promotion on the Eurosite
website. You are welcome to increase the range of participating countries and
promote your commitment by submitting a so-called 'voluntary agreement'.
The collection of voluntary agreements serves as a reference point for
those interested in further developing or getting involved in Natura
2000 site management. Please contact
for more detailed information.
Green Days - raise public
and stakeholder awareness by organising and promoting events on Natura
2000
The international
initiative 'Green Days' was launched by the European Commission to
draw attention to the aims of Natura 2000, the network designed to
protect threatened habitats and species throughout Europe. 'Green Days' are
events on Natura 2000 that may take place throughout the year as part of the
'Natura Network Initiative' (NNi).
If you plan to organise an event on Natura 2000, either
for the general public or for professionals in nature conservation,
please register it for publication on the pan-European Green Days
dynamic calendar:

The
EUROPARC
Federation,
Eurosite and the
European Landowners' Organisation manage this
project in partnership on behalf of the European Commission. This joint
pan-European awareness raising project for Natura 2000 started in 2004 with
the aim of encouraging the members of these three European organisations to
deepen their commitment to working with Natura 2000. The NNi is an excellent project and complements the efforts to
promote and work on Natura 2000 that EUROPARC began at its
annual conference
in 2004.
EUROPARC members are asked to support the initiative and thereby
make their own contribution to the development of a sustainable network of
valuable sites throughout Europe. |
