International Youth Camps

The annual EUROPARC International Youth Camp brings together young people from across Europe who are committed to the work of protected areas.

During the 10 - 14 day camp, participants have the opportunity to learn more about the country's protected areas and the daily work of the host park. A typical programme might consist of:

 

  • practical work activities in the park, e.g. on renaturalisation / renovation projects

  • excursions into the protected area

  • presentations on the participants' home protected areas

  • visits to cultural events and local sights

  • environmental education activities

The International Youth Camp is organised by the host park in conjunction with the EUROPARC Headquarters in Grafenau (D). The host park generally covers the local expenses for accommodation, board and programme; participants are required to cover their own travel expenses to and from the camp. Suitable candidates between the ages of 18 and c. 26 are nominated by protected area authorities and EUROPARC members.
