Farewell Romania - Hello Sweden
Delegates depart from Conference 2008

EUROPARC Delegates say a fond farewell to Pioana Brasov, and to the Romanian hosts of Conference 2008.
It was a hectic week., but the buzz of networks, connections, project partners and freindships being made around the conference venues was testiment to the great atmosphere throughout the 4 days.
Congratulation go to the hard working conference team and their excellent volunteers who sheperded us gently throughout.
At the gala dinner, the Alfred Toepfer medal was awarded to Walter Frank (Ro) for his outstanding work in working to protect the Romanian virgin beech forests. Copies of the nomination speech from EUROPARC Germany and the acceptance by Walter Frank will be available shortly.
The Alfred Toepfer Scholarships were awarded to three outstanding your environmental professionals. Rachel Bland (UK), will study fire managementand take a look at marine protected areas on Greece, David Rodriguez (S) will visit the less well known country of Moldova and report back to us on their protected area management system there and finallu Razvan Deju (Ro)with make a study of Bison management in Poland. We look forward to receiving their reports whcih we will gladly share with members.
Meanwhile we hope you all have pencilled in the 09th-13th September for next years conference in Sweden, See you then!!
