The STEC

The EUROPARC Transboundary Steering and Evaluation Committee (STEC) is mandated by the EUROPARC Council to coordinate the EUROPARC Transboundary Work Programme. After receiveing reports from the verifiers the STEC makes recommendations to the EUROPARC Council, who then formally decide whether a protected area will be awarded the certification or re-evaluation.

Resulting from the EUROPARC Strategy the mandate, responsibilities and activities of the STEC under the EUROPARC Transboundary Work Programme include:

1. The coordination of the EUROPARC Transboundary Basic Standards and Certification Programme. This includes the processing and preliminary evaluation of new applications for the EUROPARC “transboundary certificate”; on-site verification of transboundary cooperation in applicant TBPAs; deciding whether the transboundary certificate should be awarded or deferred; the re-evaluation of certified TBPAs after 5 years; the promotion of the EUROPARC Basic Standards evaluation system toEUROPARC members; further development of the evaluation system.
2. The development and extension of the EUROPARC TBPA Network the TransParcNet.
3. Fundraising for the EUROPARC Transboundary Work Programme.
4. Promotion of the EUROPARC Transboundary Work Programme outside the EUROPARC network.

The following people are members of the STEC:
