The 3rd International Scientific Conference of the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences and Nature Conservation Agency North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve 'Solutions on Harmonising Sustainability and Nature Protection with Socio-economic Stability' will be held in Valmiera, Latvia on 19 and 20 August 2010.

The main conference theme will be harmonising sustainable development of nature protected areas, rural and urban areas and nature protection and conservation. This will include researches, experiences and problem statements on finding solutions and constructive methods of dialog creation between local stakeholders (e.g. residents, local farmers, entrepreneurs, industries) and environment managers, inspectors, rangers, municipalities and people with green approach.

The aim of this conference is to achieve better understanding about subject among experts from different fields of science, to establish new contacts and possible planning of joint research projects.

Papers are called for from different field of research interests, but the common theme should be sustainable development, including its economic, social, institutional and environmental elements.
