Landscape and Nature for All - NAAONB Annual Conference

The National Association for AONBs (NAAONB), the Kent Downs, High Weald and Surrey Hills AONBs and the Parc Naturel Regional (PNR) des Caps et Marais d’Opale look forward to welcoming you to Hythe for Conference 2010, the NAAONB’s 12th Annual Conference.

The NAAONB are delighted to be using a locally owned hotel for Conference and we are working closely with both the host team and the hotel to ensure that local produce is an important ingredient of this year’s programme.

2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB). After ten years of concerted effort to halt the loss of biodiversity, it is apparent that traditional approaches to nature conservation are not the only answer.  AONBs use an integrated approach to delivery and by doing so are a key tool to delivering the next round of biodiversity targets.  At a time when a landscape approach is more important than ever, it is crucial that our role and our unique input into this internationally coordinated programme of work is clear.

The IYB-UK focuses on four principal themes: Marine and Water; the Value of Biodiversity for Ecotourism; Forestry and Ecosystems; and the close relationship between humans and biodiversity and the importance of its conservation for present and future generations.
