In partnership to protect Europe's natural and cultural heritage

The EUROPARC Junior Ranger Camp 2010

Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) (UK) is currently hosting the 9th International Junior Ranger Camp.

We are delighted that a wide range of protected areas are represented at the camp this year: with 40 participants, and 12 protected areas represented from 8 different countries (Czech Republic, Germany, UK, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Netherlands, Slovenia).

The camp is an annual event which is an extraordinary opportunity to meet, exchange our experiences, to learn something new about our area, the environment and the local traditions.  As this year is the International Year of Biodiversity the camp is focusing on the biodiversity of the Mendip Hills and the protected areas if those attending.

The programme consist of fieldwork and cultural activities including visits to Cheddar Gorge and the historic town of Wells. The camp will also offer plenty of outdoor activities including fishing, riding, caving and climbing. It will be located on a working farm on the levels for the first part of the week, will then move to Goblin Combe Environment Centre in a woodland near the AONB.

Here you can access the Camp Website and keep up to date with blogs from the participating Junior Rangers
