Whats coming up for Europe's protected areas in 2012

Happy New Year! We hope that you all had a very relaxed holiday season and wish you a successful and joyous 2012. May the coming year bring our protected landscapes more innovative projects, necessary funding and an even stronger network across Europe.

In 2012 the EUROPARC Federation will continue to work hard for Europe's green jewels. You can follow our work here on our website or on our Facebook page. We will also be launching a Twitter page this year. Further, there are a number of exciting events coming up in 2012 which are relevant for all individuals working in the field of protected area management:

- Opening for applications for the Alfred Toepfer Scholarships, 30th January 2012.
  Deadline for applications 11th May.

- The European Day of Parks on 24th May.
  Theme: See the sky. Touch a tree. Feel the air. Find yourself.

- The EUROPARC Siggen Seminar, Germany, 20th – 26th May.
  Theme: Conflict resolution in protected areas

- TransParcNet meeting, Finland, 14th -17th June

- International Junior Ranger Camp, Triglav National Park, Slovenia and Prealip Guilie Regional Park Italy, 21st – 28th July

- EUROPARC Conference, Genk, Belgium, 22 – 25th October
  Theme: Reconnect: Nature with Nature; Nature with People; Business with Biodiversity; Policy with Practice
