Every year, Romanian park administrations celebrate together the European Day of Parks, in a national context. This year, this national event will be hosted by the Apuseni Nature Park Administration and will take place on the 24th of May. The event is always co-organized with the National Forest Administration – ROMSILVA and brings together representatives not only from all Romanian national and natural park administrations, but also different national, regional or local stakeholders, showing direct responsibility or interest for environmental protection and nature conservation.

Since we are celebrating the belonging of man to nature, the activities prepared will follow the evolution, the current state and the different perspectives of what we call human-nature interaction. Therefore, please take a look at our schedule, which brings different contexts at different locations alive, such as:

At the Administrative and Visitor Center of the Apuseni Nature Park we will kick-off the day with speeches and different thematic presentations, where the highlight of the event is our special guest, Dr. Zeno Oarcea (92 years old), the pioneer of the national and natural parks network of Romania. We continue with a specific “fair”, which includes both local specialities promoted by all Romanian national and nature park administrations, and partners presenting outcomes as a result of great partnerships between the Apuseni Nature Park Administration and different stakeholders (local businesses, craftsman, alpine clubs, associations, and more).

The next activity on the list is a cultural event at the Bears Cave, which includes:
– micro-recitals of unplugged musical instruments (flute, tulnic, horn violin)
– thematic presentation of the caves given by specialized experts: formation and evolution, discovery and exploration, benefits for people, protection and conservation.

We will close the day by celebrating our parks and people at the festive dinner. We are eager to meet again with friends and colleagues from Romania, and not only, but networking is not the only aspect to take into account here. A culinary-artistic program is prepared and supported by stakeholders or partners of the Apuseni Nature Park Administration.

The day after the 24th of May is reserved for getting to know Apuseni Nature Park, from a perspective connected to the relationship between nature and people. We will be visiting the most important areas of the park, with an emphasis on traditional living in a nature park, where the interaction between people and nature is still highlighted today, just as it was in the past as well.
