European Parks Day is celebrated every year on May 24. This ecological respect was established by the EUROPARC Federation in 1999.
European Parks Day since 1999, when the first celebration was held in different countries. May 24 was chosen as the date to celebrate the anniversary of the passing of the National Parks Act in Sweden in 1909. Sweden became the first country to establish a national park system. 9 national parks were opened during the first year after the adoption of the law. Other European countries followed Sweden’s example.
National parks are invaluable for the European cultural heritage and the observance of the European Day of Parks aims to strengthen international cooperation in the protection of the environment. European national parks organize different activities every year, which increase public awareness of the natural beauties of European nature and the importance of its protection. This year with the slogan Vote for Nature!

Program: The meeting place in Prizren at the Marashi bridge, at 09:00 on May 24, 2024. From the city of Prizren, transport by minibus, jeep or private car, to the village of Novo Sello, from where we start the walk to the Mountain House – Kopana Voda ( Kopana Water
Meeting place in the Sharri National Park at the Kopana Voda Mountain House for a long break with a casual lunch or picnic. From here we will walk 1 km on the Pisha e Madhe or Big Pine Trail, then discussion about this destination of the Sharri National Park, exploring the flora and fauna, and then collecting litter along this walking path.
The movement of the group will be done with tourist guides who are responsible during the group’s stay in nature according to the program; We will have a discussion with the nature guard where we will hand over the gratitude for the contribution made to the protection of the Sharri National Park in the last 40 years.
