To Šilentabor – Among stories, flowers, and views
The Pivka Tourist Association and the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka Nature Park invite you to a spring hike.
This time, we won’t be walking among our intermittent lakes – which are currently dry – but we’ll head a bit higher, to Šilentabor, from where a beautiful view of the Pivka landscape opens up.
We’ll meet on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM, in front of the Komanda building at the Pivka Park of Military History.
The hike will be guided and, with stops, will last about 3 to 4 hours.
The trail will lead us through blooming karst meadows and forest paths, past everything that makes spring here so special – flowers, greenery, birdsong, and stunning views.
At Šilentabor, where the largest anti-Turkish fort in Slovenia once stood, we’ll enjoy truly breathtaking views in all directions. We’ll also stop at the old church of St. Martin.
After the hike, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Park of Military History at a discounted price. For our group, the Kantina restaurant will also be open, where you can enjoy a reasonably priced lunch.
This hike marks the 11th anniversary of our park, Slovenian Nature Parks Week, European Day of Parks, and other spring nature protection holidays in May: World Bee Day, Natura 2000 Day, International Day for Biological Diversity, and Forest Week.
