The first 30 officially certified Protected Area Specialists in Romania will be trained this autumn to become efficient administrators of natural protected areas in the country. Two training programmes will be held at Rugăneşti, Harghita county, between 7 September – 17 October 2015, for the 30 graduates of the online training programme for Protected Area Specialist. The courses were organised on the www.proparktraining.ro learning platform, starting June 2015.

In addition to the virtual learning module, during the ten days of intense professional training the trainees will acquire specific skills for the efficient administration of natural protected areas, for promoting them as model areas for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources as well as for increasing the level of acceptance of protected areas among communities and the public.

It is a project we are very proud of: very ambitious but full of opportunities. Through these training sessions we aim to create a new generation of specialists who would contribute to improving the fate of protected areas in Romania,

said Georgiana Andrei, project manager.

It is a great achievement that all trainees will be awarded graduation certificates issued by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Protection and the Elderly and the Ministry of National Education, for the Protected Area Specialist occupation, COR code 213306, and will become the first officially certified Protected Area Specialists in Romania.

The vocational training programme is organised under the project ”Capacity Building Plans for Efficient Protected Area Management in Eastern Europe”,  implemented by ProPark Foundation for Protected Areas from Romania with the partnership of EUROPARC Federation, commissioned by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN).
