EUROPARC works to improve the management of Protected Areas in Europe through international cooperation, exchange of ideas and experience, and by influencing policy. In order to reach this goal, EUROPARC is involved in a series of projects in partnership with its members, sections and associated organisations. Outcomes of the projects will be made available to the entire EUROPARC network, for the benefit and inspiration of many.

Erasmus+ Sport CONNECT: Connecting Outdoor Sports and Protected Areas in Europe
The Connect Project aims to strengthen relationships between local Outdoor Sports organisations and Protected Areas by identifying key elements for successful cooperation.
LIFE PAME-Europe: A unifying framework for Management Effectiveness in Europe
The project will analyse established MEE methodologies such as the IUCN Green List, European Diploma, IUCN’s Management Effectiveness Tracking Tool (METT), and WWF’s Rapid Assessment and Prioritization of Protected Area Management (RAPPAM), along with national approaches. By identifying their strengths, LIFE PAME-Europe will create a flexible, adaptable framework tailored to the diverse needs of EU Member States. It will be tested on the ground in 40 Protected Areas in Europe.
INTERREG Europe GREENHEALTH: Sustainable Protected Areas as a key value for human well-being
The objective of GREENHEALTH is to strengthen the biodiversity of the regions of the European Union by improving the management of European Protected Areas through better links as well as strategic and operational cooperation between biodiversity protection and human health and well-being.
Interreg Euro-MED MPA4Change: Enhancing the resilience of Mediterranean coastal areas
MPA4Change project is an Interreg Euro-MED initiative that aims to promote the role of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and marine restoration as Nature Based Solutions for the adaptation and mitigation of Climate Change.
Horizon Europe – NaturaConnect Designing a resilient and coherent Trans-European Nature Network (TEN-N) (2022-2026)
NaturaConnect brings together universities, research institutes and non-governmental organisations from 22 partner institutions, aiming to support the European Union Member States to realise the 30×30 target of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 by providing data, tools and capacity building.

EUROPARC is dedicated to practical nature conservation and sustainable development of Europe’s biodiversity, fostering holistic landscape approaches in its management. We have no shortage of project ideas in the pipeline and are working together with our member Protected Areas to develop them into full project proposals. We are keen to undertake more work in the fields of youth involvement in Protected Areas, develop the Charter for Sustainable Tourism further and look into synergies between agriculture and Protected Areas as well as Protected Area management effectiveness and many other topics.
