Webinar: Communicating with Purpose
In this webinar, we’ve heard Dirk Hilbers and his experience with the Crossbill Guides Foundation.
The webinar is organised as part of a series within the scope of the LIFE e-Natura2000.edu project, or ‘LIFEedu’ for short. You can find out more information about the project here – also, if you have not already done so, please sign-up for the project’s bi-annual newsletter in the end of this page: www.europarc.org/life-e-natura2000-edu/
What were the key ‘take-home’ messages from the webinar?
1) The ‘purpose’ of communication has different functions – e.g. to inform, persuade and/or enthuse people to be interested in and care about nature
2) There is no ‘general’ public – each audience is different and has their own information needs and communication expectations
3) No one communication tool is ‘best’ – different tools are required for different audiences
4) The organisation is the means, but is not the message – above all, first define your purpose and communication message. Once you know ‘what’ you want to say, the ‘to whom’ and ‘how’ follow that.
