Background of the project

The snowfalls of February 15 and 16 2021 were very intense in Attica and caused the fall of a large number of trees and the breaking of branches. In the area of the Mt. Hymettus Aesthetic Forest, the snow reached a height of about 40 cm and in combination with its weight caused a lot of damage to the trees. In fact, during the bad weather, Civil Protection bodies proceeded to cut down some trees that fell on the main roads of the area in order to restore the passage of vehicles.

The needs identified were the immediate cleaning of these damages caused by the snowfall for the proper operation of the Mt. Hymettus Aesthetic Forest. Also, the restoration of the damages was necessary in order for the forest to be accessible to the citizens without running the risk of the trees and branches falling.
