Guided Walk on the Dormouse Nature Trail, 24 May

european day of parks, europarcWe invite you to an easy walk in a beautiful garden with typical Hungarian fruit trees and lavender. Our guide will help you to learn about the nature values around the inhabited areas, in gardens. Taking part in the thematic year “GASTRO Adventures 2016” in Hungary and celebrating the European Day of Parks 2016 “A Taste of Nature” we promote one of the most emblematic local product of the Balaton Uplands National Park: the lavender. Participants of the tour have the opportunity to taste lavender tea.

Tihany Peninsula which is part of the Balaton Uplands National Park is famous for its large fields of lavender, which are alive with bloom at the end of spring and at the beginning of summer . There’s also a Lavender House Visitor Centre, where visitors can learn more about the history of the Peninsula, and the region’s lavender-growing culture.  Lavender is not only beautiful, but it has hundreds of uses. The beneficial impact of its high oil content has been known for thousands of years. This has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. These extracts are also used as fragrances for bath products. It is a relaxing herb and it can be used in baking, gourmet cooking, tea making and much more.
