EUROPARC does not only work in the European Union’s 27 Member States but has a much wider membership across whole of Europe. In order to serve our members and advocate for Protected Areas in all of Europe, EUROPARC maintains a close dialogue with the Council of Europe in biodiversity, nature conservation and Protected Area topics.
The two most important policy frameworks for Protected Areas in the wider European context are the Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats or the Bern Convention and the Council of Europe Landscape Convention. Protected Areas are key in the implementation of these conventions. The Secretariats of both of the conventions are in the Council of Europe.
EUROPARC works for Protected Areas and members’ interest in the wider European policy context and provides expertise on Protected Areas. EUROPARC facilitates an exchange of experiences and enables the information flow from and to our members.
