The European Day of Parks is a special day, when we celebrate the protected areas. In 2021 we set out to show the world how protected areas are continuously evolving, adapting and moving forward!

This year, Retezat National Park Administration together with Grădiştea Muncelului-Cioclovina Nature Park Administration celebrates the European Day of Parks – The New Generation by carrying out awareness activities. The unprecedented increase in visitors due to the relaxation of national restrictions against COVID-19 in the summer of 2020 and its negative impact on biodiversity in the protected areas, have once again demonstrated the importance of having a well-informed public.

Together we work to inform the public so that the New Generation of responsible tourists who will visit Retezat National Park and Grădiştea Muncelului-Cioclovina Nature Park will better understand the role of a protected area, to understand the role and the mission of the protected area administrator and especially to understand why it is important to comply with the national legislation and the park regulations.

Thus, Retezat National Park Administration together with Grădiştea Muncelului-Cioclovina Nature Park Administration invites the public to join us on May 23, 2021, between 10:00 and 14:00, at Nucșoara Visitor Center of the Retezat National Park Administration (Nucșoara Village, no. 284, Sălașu de Sus Commune, Hunedoara County), where the public will get information and promotion materials that will increase the knowledge on the importance of conserving ecosystems, habitats and species, as well as other values of the area. Also, starting at 12:00, our colleagues have prepared a presentation of the protected areas we are administrating. During the presentation, you will learn more about biodiversity in protected natural areas, about their importance and about the visiting rules applicable in those areas.

On May 24, 2021, Grădiştea Muncelului-Cioclovina Nature Park Administration together with the Retezat National Park Administration will continue the information activities related to European Day of Parks, this time within the Pui Secondary School, where we will teach the students about the importance of conserving ecosystems, habitats and species in protected natural areas.

Together we want to create a New Generation in the future, which will contribute, through an open and transparent collaboration, to the protection and sustainable conservation of ecosystems, habitats and species in protected areas!
