European Day of Parks 2023 Photogallery and Photographic video
The aim of the event is raising awareness about the importance of parks and protected areas, the places of choice for our lovely days dedicated to nature photography.
May 24 is the European Day of Parks, an initiative of the European Federation of Parks (EUROPARC) to commemorate the day when, in 1909, the first nucleus of national parks in Europe was established in Sweden. In Italy the first parks were created 101 years ago, in 1922: the National Parks of Gran Paradiso and Abruzzo. Today, 871 protected areas are located on the national territory, of which 24 are national parks and 32 marine protected areas. Given the absolute ecological importance of parks and nature reserves, as a national association we think we can provide a valuable contribution to the international initiative, creating attention for these areas by sharing our most beautiful shots, with the contribution of all of us photographers.
Details of the initiative: The initiative is addressed to all AFNI members. Members will send themed images, taken within protected natural areas (national parks, marine areas and reserves on the official list) and which portray both the landscapes and the species of fauna, microfauna and flora that represent their precious biodiversity.
All selected photographs will be marked with the author’s name and the initiative’s hashtag #giornataeuropeadeiparchi, and will be used for assemblying an audiovisual product to be played on AFNI social networks, as a promotion of our association, its objectives and its dedication to respect and protection of nature. Best individual pictures will be also featured, starting from May 10, on the official AFNI Facebook page (@AFNIfotografianaturalistica) and Instagram profile (@afni_italia).
