What are the motivation factors of individuals working/collaborating in biodiversity initiatives?

“Combining internal and external motivations in multi-actor governance arrangements for biodiversity and ecosystem services analyses the possibility of building a mutually supportive dynamics between internally and externally motivated behaviour for biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services provision”.

By analysing 34 successful cases in 7 european countries, the authors defined a set of pshycho-social features that could help designing multi-actor governance arrangements.

This paper was developed within the context of the FP7 BIOMOT project “Motivational strength of ecosystem services and alternative ways to express the value of biodiversity – addresses the problem of building and sustaining motivation to act for biodiversity by means of a comprehensive rethinking of what value and motivation actually are for people”.
