Dear members, send us your case studies!

Are you working in a N2000 site and have an interesting communication project that you would like to promote? Please send us your case studies and highlight your projects.
The best case studies will be rewarded during the 2015 EUROPARC Conference that will take place in Regensburg (DE) from the 26th to 27th of October.

Here are some of the criteria upon which the case studies will be collected, evaluated and chosen as best practice examples:

• Thematic offers promoted (to tour operators / to visitors / to partners…)
• Product-market combination
• Information material / Sufficient Information provided; e.g. brochures
• Quality and eye catching level of Info material
• Communication connected to promotion of local products / cultural heritage
• Development of communication strategy / marketing strategy
• Communication of values and benefits of Natura 2000
• Communicating on the Importance of Natura 2000 network
• Communicating the Economic value of the benefits provided by the Natura 2000 network
• Partnership/Cooperation; Communication with local communities
• Partnership/Cooperation; Communication with decision takers and local authorities
• Work with press
• Work with visitors
• Inventive and Creative use of communications

It’s the perfect time to think about the past year and to look ahead to a new one, to celebrate achievements and recognise efforts.

Green Week Logo

The 2015 edition of Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy, will have nature and biodiversity as a theme and will take place in Brussels from the 3rd to 5th of June.

The event will be a great opportunity to raise the voice of Protected Areas across Europe, to contribute directly to the current EU policy debate on nature conservation and to present and share good practices and case studies.

The LIFE program is again playing a prominent role during Green Week. For full details of LIFE events and a list of LIFE project beneficiaries taking part in the exhibition, you can download the program here.

The award ceremony to celebrate the most inspiring 2014 LIFE projects will take place on Thursday, 4 June.

EUROPARC will surely be present and we hope to see many of our members on this occasion. Don’t forget to attend the Nature and Health workshop on 4th of June, 9.30 AM during which our own President Ignace Schops will be speaking and highlighting work of Health and Protected Area working group.

In the framework of EUROPARC’s Transboundary Parks Programme, the common work between the two parks has covered over the past few years joint research and monitoring projects like “Nature without borders” as well as many events for visitors.

Nature without borders was an important research and monitoring project which focused in several moduls on bats, spiders and beetles, snakes, wild cat, birds, butterflies and dead wood. Except data and research outcomes, several publications resulted from the project.

The two parks are glad that more and more people from both sides of the border are attending their events, another proof of the living cooperation. A cooperation not only between the two Protected Areas but also the communities.

The EUROPARC Federation is therefore very delighted to see the common work between Thayatal (AU) and Podyjí National Parks (CZ) being intensified again. The re-evaluation mission for the Transboundary Certificate seemed promising and everybody is curiously awaiting the verifier’s report.

Two more Transboundary Areas are up for re-evaluation this year. Neusiedlersee-Seewinkl (AU) and Fertö-Hanság National Parks (HU) that were already visited, and Bavarian Forest (DE) and Šumava National Parks (CZ) that will be re-evaluated mid June. If their assessments are successful, they will receive their renewed Transboundary Certificate during the EUROPARC Conference, 26th- to 27th October in Regensburg.

Nature knows no boundaries and this cooperation is obviously a great example of how parks can, in collaboration, manage more effectively Europe’s natural resources and aspire to be models of sustainable development.
