Short and sweet | ENA Mini-Courses have come to an end!

With a concluding Online meeting which took place on the 15th of March, ENA Mini-Course Participants have officially come to an end of their ENA journey, which started on the 31st of January.

Throughout the five Mini-Courses they have had a chance to focus on competence-based applied learning for marine and forest ecosystems, core communication skills, inclusive stakeholder engagement and governance practices, policy frameworks and more.

This has been a great opportunity for them to connect with their peers and exchange ideas, as well as learning connected to the management challenges and opportunities they face in their everyday work.

The Mini- Courses were incredibly interesting, providing additional knowledge and new visions for the future, said one participant.

The Mini-Courses have been delivered by the ENA Trainee Trainers, selected from the 1st intake of the ENA participants, with the support of an expert team of ‘Trainee-Buddies’. We are super proud and grateful for their excellent work in spreading their experiences and skills acquired during their time in the Academy.

We hope that the new networking connections made within the European Nature Academy will continue for a long time and result in some exciting collaborations.

The ENA team wishes all of our participants lots of success in their future endeavours.

The European Nature Academy seeks to empower Nature Professionals by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitudes to tackle the various management challenges they encounter in their work.

European Nature Academy Mini-Courses have started!

The time has come! 

The second European Nature Academy intake has officially started their learning journeys with the Online Induction Seminar.

A total of 107 Participants from more than 30 Countries got together to meet, collaborate and get familiar with the Mini Course Programme, as well as their Trainers.

Based on their professional backgrounds, skills and interests indicated during the application process, selected participants have been organised in five European Nature Academy “Houses” – these focus on competence-based applied learning for marine and forest ecosystems, core communication skills, inclusive stakeholder engagement and governance, policy frameworks and more.

We are incredibly proud and happy that ENA’s Trainee Trainers have this opportunity to share the knowledge they gained during the first round of courses. They will work together with the new intake of participants and we wish them every success during their ENA journey!

European Nature Academy | Train the Trainers Course

From December 4th to 8th, the European Nature Academy brought together a group of passionate future trainers for a special workshop, hosted by the LIFE ENABLE project partner, the Alfred Toepfer Akademie für Naturschutz in Schneverdingen, Germany. 

The aim was to learn and grow together, with the ultimate goal of delivering impactful mini-courses to the next intake of ENA participants in 2024.

Versatile interactive sessions

Some of the topics covered during this workshop were:

  • setting objectives and measuring impacts; 
  • design of learning space;
  • facilitation and negotiation;
  • participatory engagement techniques

In addition, trainees delivered a 30-minute presentation followed by feedback discussions. This enabled insightful analysis of their style, highlighting their strengths and areas for improvement.

Through their dedication and hard work, these trainers are well on their way to making a positive difference in the world of conservation and nature by facilitating the networking and skills improvement of the future ENA generation.

Where Sports and Nature Meet

Stakeholders from the outdoor sports, education, environment, and EU political sectors gathered in Munich from November 13th to 15th for the closing event of the EU Erasmus+ project – Sustainability and Environmental Education in Outdoor Sports (The SEE Project). The project partners were thrilled to celebrate the completion of four impactful project reports, a European best practices guide, and an Educational Toolkit after three years of hard work.

The learning symposium provided an excellent opportunity for an international audience from both the outdoor sports and environmental protection sectors to come together, share ideas, transfer knowledge, and work on future collaborations.

The two-day program allowed participants to delve deeper into key topics related to outdoor sports and Protected areas.

Interactive and Deep Dive sessions

As part of the Interactive and Deep Dive sessions, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas on a number of topics, including:

  • Community engagement and social conflicts
  • Littering
  • Nature connection 
  • Dealing with impacts 
  • Equipment and consumption
  • Overcrowding
  • Climbing specific activities
  • Values and raising awareness
  • Cooperation between Nature and Sport
  • Communication
  • Inclusion

Participants also got hands-on experience with the Toolkit through several practical workshop sessions, including testing toolkit activities. They also got inspired by inspirational talks from game changers in environmental activism.
